Romance Linguistics

Our research in Romance linguistics and philology aims to cover the entire
range of the Romance languages, both geographically and historically. We exploit
the unparalleled wealth of comparative and historical data provided by the
Romance languages and dialects to the full, and seek to use these data to throw
light on issues in general linguistic theory (especially the theory of language
change). A major current research activity in Romance linguistics in Oxford
addresses the historical morphology of the Romance verb and its relevance to
theories of autonomous morphology, but research in all domains of linguistic
theory is encouraged. Other researchers are currently active in the fields of
Romance pronominal morphology, syntax, phonology and pragmatics (deixis). For
further details please follow the link to the website of the Research centre for
Romance Linguistics.
