Postdoctoral Researcher in Mauritian Creole Linguistics and Outreach Officer

I am a postdoctoral researcher interested in Creole languages, language attitudes and language change. My previous work explored discourse markers in Mauritian Creole and my D.Phil investigated Mauritian Creole’s tense, mood and aspect (TMA) markers. I am also the faculty’s outreach officer. I have been involved with the Think Like a Linguist project with Modern Languages and Cambridge Widening Participation, which targeted Year 8’s in the Manchester region, I recruit students for the MFL Mentoring scheme in Wales, organise the yearly UNIQ summer school in Linguistics and deliver taster sessions/workshops in Linguistics throughout the year to pupils from Year 8-12.
