CLOx3 - Catalan Linguistics at Oxford Day

24 May 2025

The III Catalan Linguistics at Oxford Day (CLOx25) will to bring together researchers in the linguistics of Catalan, in all its subfields (phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics, etc.) and from all possible perspectives (theoretical, experimental, dialectological, sociolinguistic, etc.) to discuss their research and encourage collaboration amongst all those working on this language in a friendly and productive atmosphere. Contributions in both English and Catalan are welcome. The meeting will be held in the historical Taylor Institution Library, and will count with an opening talk delivered by Prof. Manel Pérez Saldanya (Universitat de València), a key figure in diachronic Catalan linguistics.

The meeting is scheduled to be held in-person. A sandwich lunch and light refreshments will be provided throughout the day, and a dinner will be organised for those wishing to attend.

Talks
CLOx25 will feature an opening talk by Prof. Manel Pérez Saldanya (Universitat de València), seven 20+10’ talks, and one 1-hour session of six flash (7+3’) talks by students.
The selection of talks, while being ultimately based on the quality of the submitted abstracts, will be intended to represent as many different subfields and perspectives as possible.

Call

All perspectives are welcome: theoretical, descriptive, dialectological, synchronic/diachronic, sociolinguistic, experimental, language-acquisition/learning.
The languages of CLOx25 will be English and Catalan. Presentations can be in either.
