I am an experimental phonetician with an interest in laboratory phonology.

Research

I currently hold a Postdoctoral Research Associate post at the University of Oxford on the ESRC-funded project Mapping Prosodic Convergence in the Eastern Mediterranean, led by Principal Investigator Elinor Payne. Within this project, my research focuses on the intonation of Venetan and other Italo-Romance varieties, and on their contact with Croatian varieties spoken in Istria and along the Dalmatian coast. I am also interested in segmental features of Venetan, such as the so-called “evanescent /l/.”

Another major research interest of mine concerns the interaction between gemination (the contrast between long and short consonants) and consonantal strength (lenition vs. fortition) across regional varieties of Italian and cross-linguistically. I have also collaborated on projects investigating a range of speech phenomena in diverse languages, including Austronesian languages and Australian English.

Further information on my research activity can be found on my academic website.

Teaching

At Oxford, I teach phonetics and phonology tutorials for preliminary examinations.
