Before joining Oxford, I completed my BA in French Studies at the University of Nottingham with a year-long study exchange at the Université de Strasbourg. During my studies in Strasbourg, I developed a keen interest in French sociolinguistics, particularly with regard to minoritised regional dialects such as Alsatian. I consequently wrote my undergraduate dissertation on language attitudes towards the Alsatian dialect and the impact of Standard Language Ideologies on the use and status of Alsatian. As part of my MSt studies at Oxford, I intend to specialise in French linguistics and apply the knowledge that I acquire from general linguistic theory on sociolinguistic approaches towards French and its regional languages.
