The Faculty is delighted that Professor Aditi Lahiri has been awarded a CBE in the New Year 2020 Honours List. The honour is in recognition of her services to the study of Linguistics.
Her research profile covers historical and comparative linguistics, phonology, phonetics, psycholinguistics, and neurolinguistics, and brings together traditional and innovative methodologies in a unified research enterprise. Professor Lahiri commented that she is especially gratified that her discipline, linguistics, not often in the public limelight, was among those commended.
Acknowledging her indebtedness to the institutions and research agencies that she had the good fortune of being associated with and supported by, she added that "ultimately, one's students, postdoctoral fellows, and research colleagues are those who are fundamental to any research achievement that is rewarded with such an accolade".
