Sarah Ogilvie, The Dictionary People longlisted for Women’s Prize for Nonfiction 2024

Sarah Ogilvie’s The Dictionary People: The unsung heroes who created the Oxford English Dictionary, published by Chatto & Windus, has been longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Nonfiction 2024 (the announcement can be watched here).

The Dictionary People draws on new source material — due to an exciting chance find — to tell previously untold stories of the people whose efforts gave us the first edition of the Oxford English Dictionary. The book has attracted a wealth of press coverage: see for example the reviews in the Guardian (here) and in the Sydney Morning Herald (here).

Congratulations, Sarah!
