The Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics at the University of Oxford, together with collaborating colleges, is looking to fill THREE fixed-term positions in Linguistics, all to start on October 1, 2025.
All three positions involve a mix of undergraduate and graduate teaching, together with an opportunity to participate in a vibrant linguistics research community, and opportunities to benefit from the rich environment provided by Oxford’s colleges. Starting in October 2025, the Faculty will be occupying new space in the Stephan A Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, providing office/work space, meeting spaces, and lab facilities.
1. Departmental Lecturer in Semantics/Pragmatics (1 year)
This sabbatical replacement position is offered as a departmental appointment, in collaboration with Jesus College. The postholder will offer undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision in semantics and pragmatics throughout the academic year, and they will cover responsibilities of a college tutorial fellow during 2 of the 3 academic terms.

2. Stipendiary Lecturer in Psycholinguistics (1 year)
This sabbatical replacement position is offered as a college appointment at St Hugh’s College, in collaboration with the Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics. The postholder will offer undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision primarily in psycholinguistics, together with responsibilities of a college tutorial fellow throughout the year.

3. Departmental Lecturer in Linguistics with French (3 years)
This position is offered as a departmental appointment. The postholder will provide teaching and supervision that serves multiple areas of need in the department, which differ between the undergraduate and graduate levels. At the undergraduate level, the ability to offer teaching in linguistics related to French is essential, and the ability to offer teaching in other areas, including other Romance languages (e.g., Spanish, Italian) is desirable. At the graduate level, the ability to offer Masters-level teaching and supervision in one or more areas supplementing existing departmental strengths is essential.
